We are delighted to announce that we are teaming up with The Tilting Sky to sponsor their new music competition Rocket From The East 2019!

RFTE ( Rocket From The East ) returns to Norwich following its debut back in 2012.

Here at Journal East we are passionate about supporting the creative talents brewing in the eastern region. Therefore we are pleased to see that RFTE is coming back with a bunch of prizes that will genuinely help give the winner the platform they deserve to go on and progress even further with their musical career’s.

The winner will receive:

Single release including recording & mixing courtesy of Access Creative College.

Headline single release launch show courtesy of Epic Studios and The Tilting Sky.

Fully styled photo shoot and “making of” documentary video with the team here at Journal East.

In addition all entrants will receive:

Industry feedback plus an invitation to play a Norwich show within 12 months from the date of the final as part of The Tilting Sky’s ‘60@60’ programme of events.

ENTRIES OPEN 17/12/2018 & CLOSE 01/02/2019

Application Process:

On the day entries open a link will be provided (check back on the day!) to upload one song plus an email address for you to register your entry and provide your social media links.

Once entries close RFTE, alongside Access Creative College, will select a shortlist of 12.

Judging Process:

This selection will be divided up into 2 groups of 6 and perform at the live semi-final shows held at Epic Studios on 27/03/19 & 03/04/19.

Each semi-finalist will be required to perform 3 songs ( original compositions only ) with a maximum set length of 15 minutes.

The finalists will be announced on the night.

A panel made up of industry professionals and representatives from the sponsors will select 4 from each semi-final to go through to the final which will be held at Epic Studios on the 28/04/2019.

Terms and Conditions:

Entries are invited from independent musicians who write and perform their own material.

There is no minimum age requirement.

Musicians should reside within Norfolk for the duration of the competition.

Applicants should not have any contractual ties to a 3rd party that would exclude them from entering RFTE.
